Traction capability is one reason to consider a Jeep® vehicle. The Freedom Drive II® 4-wheel drive system ensures that the power and torque of the engine are transferred appropriately. Off-roading can be challenging, so always use common sense with safety being the foremost concern.

Off-roading is all about uneven terrain. Articulation is the built-in flexibility of a vehicle to keep wheels of the same axle in contact with uneven ground. Traction makes sure usable power delivered to all four wheels keeps a vehicle moving forward. Before you enter uneven terrain, always plan a route that will keep the vehicle level.

Maneuverability is important in off-roading because it represents the ability to navigate around and over obstacles. It's determined by looking at the vehicle's wheelbase, track and turning radius. The more maneuverability you have, the more control you have.
